Charlie Soucey

I am a Ph.D. student studying fractured rock hydrogeology using novel laboratory experiments and field tracer techniques. I graduated from Hope College in 2022 with a B.S. in Geology and joined the Kang research group the following Fall. Currently, my research focuses on understanding how solute storage and transport in karst aquifers leads to long groundwater contaminant trajectories. This work occurs in the context of our group's research in Karst Hydrogeology and in Transport, Mixing, and Reactions in fractured media. I am also interested in the use of laboratory analytical techniques for characterization of hydraulic properties in geologic media.

Originally, I am from a town outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan where I grew up hunting, fishing, camping, and adventuring around in the outdoors. In my free time I enjoy playing golf, bowhunting, and watching my beloved Detroit Lions lose on Sunday afternoons. I can typically be found somewhere outside surrounded by good friends and good food.
