Nikhil R

I am a PhD student studying Fractured Rock Hydrogeology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. I graduated from IIT Dhanbad, India, in 2026 with a B.Tech in Environmental Engineering. During my undergraduate studies, I worked extensively on Flood Modelling and Risk Assessment. My interest changed when I saw the utility of flood-governing equations in solving problems related to Groundwater Studies. Currently, my research work focuses on pore network modeling in fractured rock systems. I am also interested in using ML algorithms to better understand fractured rocks.

I was born and grew up in a small town called Chintamani near Bangalore, India. In my free time, I enjoy bicycling and traveling. Pondering on the beautiful patterns seen in nature is what excites me the most.
