Phillipe Lima

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences studying hydrogeology. I graduated from the University of São Paulo in 2022 with a B.S. in Geology and joined Kang Research Group in Fall 2023. As part of my undergraduate thesis, I examined how aquifer thickness variability affects large-scale pumping test estimates of transmissivity. Currently, my research focuses on flow and transport in fractured rocks in the context of the Field  Hydrogeology Research Site and Managed Aquifer Recharge. I am also interested in the characterization of heterogeneous aquifers, and the use of ML algorithms.

I was born and grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports and playing video games. My interest in strategy influences how I watch sports and the types of games I enjoy playing (strategy). Learning about the overcoming stories of great athletes is one thing that motivates me. The places that I like the most are beaches and crowded stadiums.
